Fashion Bulk EDI vs Fashion Dropship EDI
- Bulk EDI – An EDI bulk order in the apparel industry is a larger quantity order usually with a start date and cancel date. These orders will go to either stores or a distribution center. The retailer may use products for their stores or on e-commerce. If a brand is using AIMS360’s garment manufacturing software or full package purchasing software they will set the in-warehouse date right before the start date of the order.
- Dropship EDI – Dropship EDI in fashion allows retailers to sell your products direct to consumer (DTC) without purchasing it in advance like in a bulk EDI scenario. Usually, the styles are listed on the retailers e-commerce website and sold
EDI UCC 128 Labels
Most retailers require you ship your products with a specific label on the box. AIMS360 allows printing of the approved retailers label for your boxes, cases, or pallets. UCC 128 labels for apparel show the origin, destination, and contents of the shipment. Labels usually include the PO number and carrier code (SCAC) as well.

UPC Barcode Requirements
Resource: GS1
Retailers require that all products must have a unique UPC (universal product code) assigned to them. GS1 regulates these numbers so that they stay unique. Therefore, each style, color, size combination of a product will have a unique identifier recognized nationwide.
Through GS1 you can:
- Obtain your UCC Registration ID
- Get a range of barcodes you can assign to your products
Online Catalogs
Resource: GXS Catalog /Intertrade
Most Trading Partners require you to host your product line along with the corresponding UPC number in an online catalog. The retailer will then order from the catalog. In order to get a catalog you will need to sign up with the catalog provider that is required by the retailer. Please check with your retailer if they require GXS catalog or Intertrade.
